Lazy summary

Lies Beneath is a survival horror game featuring a combination of XIII (comic style / gameplay) and Resident Evil 4 (ambiance).

1. Short review

The scenario is brought step by step by some nice story telling. You don’t waste too much time listening to it, but quite enough to feel the vibes.

You progress in the game as a girl looking for her dad (following a car incident). And as life isn’t hard enough, you have to kill weird creatures with blades, guns and other objects. Save points are achieved through campfires and oil lamps, so it doesn’t disrupt the narrative flow.

The game uses light and fire to help you progress through the different stages. And while being on constant alert to avoid getting murdered, you have to be attentive to the environnement details to avoid rather stupid deaths.

The experience is overall well packaged. The game has already received some updates since its launch in order to address early feedback. Lot of good reviews, overall well deserved.
